There has to be a reason to pen thoughts through a blog and today I wanted to share an anecdote when I was studying Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics from Manipal Institute of Technology in Udupi district, Karnataka state, Southern India.
I had the time of my life living the hostel life and would definitely recommend to all and sundry which could be another blog hopefully in the near future.
There were plenty of friends from all walks of life, different states of India and this concerns two individuals.
Pret, who was probably the most underrated person in my batch and was loo mate or shared a room with Pushpinder, arguably the most eccentric guy of my batch who was also studious to a fault.
Pret and Pushpinder were at cordial terms at best and suffice to say, didn’t see eye to eye on a lot of stuff. Hostel brings out the best and worst in students at times and the following incident elucidates that.
Pret was trying to sleep when he had to get up at 2 am because Pushpinder had his lamp on and was studying which is when Pret told Pushpinder to turn the light off so that he could get back to sleep.
Call it ego or arrogance but Pushpinder replied that he had the liberty to use the lamp as and when it pleased him as long as he was using it on his side of the room.
Pret did not lose his composure and tried going back to sleep but the statement stuck as if it was a precursor to a finale. Don’t take my word for it.
The next day, Pushpinder again switched on the light at 2 am to study and within the next 30 seconds, switched it off and went back to sleep because unfortunately, he saw Pret who was sleeping butt naked on his side of the room!
For the record, the two of them were apart after the first year and finished college without too many incidents to their kitty.
